Ingredients
- •1½ cup Boiled potatoes
- •1 Onion - large, finely chopped
- •3-4 flakes Garlic, grated
- •2 tbsp Tomato ketchup (hot & sweet preferred)
- •1-2 Green chilies, finely chopped
- •½ - ¾ tbsp Freshly pounded pepper
- •½ tbsp Red chili powder
- •1 tbsp Sesame seeds
- •¾ tbsp Ajwain
- •1 tbsp Coriander leaves, finely chopped (optional)
- •1 tbsp Oil
- •½ tbsp Butter
- •Salt-to-taste
- •8-10 slices Brown/ multigrain bread
- •2 tbsp Grated cheese (optional)
- •2 tbsp Butter
Method
- 1Heat oil in a non-stick deep pan, add the sesame seeds, finely chopped onion and garlic, the ajwain and butter and saute till onion turns golden brown
- 2Add the peeled, boiled and slightly mashed potatoes, add chopped green chilies, freshly pounded pepper, and red chili powder, mix well and saute for a while
- 3Mix in the chopped coriander leaves, salt and tomato ketchup
- 4Add the grated cheese after putting off the flame, mix, adjust the seasonings
- 5Use as filling for toast or make a roti roll with the filling.
- 6To make the toast- divide the filling equally into 4 or 5 parts, take a slice of bread and spread the filling evenly on it, place another slice on top to make a sandwich. Toast it on a non-stick tava or pan after smearing a little butter on each side, toast each side evenly till well done. You may make the toasted sandwich using a electric griller-toaster too.
